How to create a new contractor's 1099
We’ve already created draft 1099s for contractors that had payments this year with Gig Wage. If you have contractors that didn’t make payments, you can make draft 1099s for them by clicking “Contractors without 1099s” in the top right above the table on your dashboard.
To create a 1099 for a contractor that does not currently exist in Gig Wage, there are two ways to create a draft 1099 for a new contractor. Method 1 creates drafts one at a time, and method 2 bulk creates drafts.
Method 1: Create a draft 1099 for each individual new contractor through the Gig Wage 1099 dashboard
Step 1: Select “New 1099” on your dashboard.
Step 2: Select which type of 1099 you’d like to complete and fill out the rest of the form for the contractor for whom you’re trying to make a draft 1090.
Method 2: Download a template for creating new draft 1099s for new contractors and bulk upload a CSV file
Step 1: Go to the Imports tab in the 1099s menu bar.
Step 2: Click Create 1099s.
Step 3: Click 1099-NEC template to download the template.
Step 4: Fill out your template with the appropriate information and upload them as a CSV file. Please note, we can only accept CSV files at this time.
Step 5: We will get back to you with any errors in the data and create drafts for all the contractors you’ve uploaded for you to process and file in the Gig Wage 1099 dashboard!
